Hindsight is 2020

Happy New Year to everyone!

Not only are we entering a new year, but we’re entering a new decade! You may be expecting the typical “New Year, New Me” post here, where I talk about how it’s time to enter into the new year trying to things and seeing where that takes me.

For me, this year won’t be about breaking out, trying new things. This year will be about bringing in what worked from 2019 and continuing that. It is about recognizing what had true potential and solidifying it, and doing all that I can to improve my best practices that have already been recognized.

“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.” – Marcel Proust

This guy gets it.

Most people like to think each new year is a time for change. And while I used to share in that mindset, coming into 2020 I have plenty of new things to already be happy about in my personal life. So in my professional life, I feel as though this is a time for establishing some consistency and a solid foundation for not just the year, but the decade to come.

All that being said, I want to challenge you. Take a mental inventory for yourself and take down everything that you found to be a challenge, an unimplemented idea, and any successes you’ve had in the past year. Consider all of your goals for the coming year and decide: What are you bringing with you on this trek through a new decade?
